NLPNP Skilled Worker Category

The NLPNP Skilled Worker category targets foreign nationals and prospective immigrants possessing skills deemed beneficial to Newfoundland and Labrador’s labor market, with a prerequisite of intending to settle permanently in the province.

• Applicants must adhere to specific eligibility criteria, including having a full-time job or job offer in TEER 0 to 5 occupations, meeting certain employment conditions such as minimum hours and duration, and demonstrating qualifications, training, and skills aligned with the job’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) code.
• Additionally, applicants must fall within the age bracket of 21 to 59 years, possess valid immigration status if residing in Canada, and show the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador with accompanying family members.
• Applicants must demonstrate sufficient settlement funds, adhere to ownership stake limitations in the business, and submit valid language proficiency test results if applicable.
• Applicants must ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulations throughout the application process, while promptly reporting any changes in their situation. Upon meeting the requirements, applicants can submit their NLPNP application online and monitor its progress through regular dashboard updates. Applications not submitted within the designated timeframe will expire.

NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker Category

The NLPNP Express Entry – Skilled Worker Category provides a streamlined pathway for highly skilled individuals to obtain permanent residence in Newfoundland and Labrador

• Applicants must be accepted into IRCC’s Express Entry pool and receive a nomination from Newfoundland and Labrador to boost their Express Entry profile.
• There is no fee to apply for this category.
• Eligibility criteria include having a full-time job or job offer in TEER 0 to 3 occupations, meeting specific employment conditions, possessing required qualifications and skills, and demonstrating the intention to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Applicants must also meet language proficiency requirements, score a minimum of 67 points on the NLPNP Point Assessment Grid, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Applicants must not have a criminal record, unresolved custody disputes, or misrepresentation issues to be eligible.
• Family members such as spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children can be included in the application.
• Required documents include police certificates and translations if applicable.
• Applicants are responsible for promptly notifying authorities of any changes in their situation during the application process.
• Online applications must be submitted within 90 days of initiation to avoid expiration.

NLPNP International Graduate Category

The NLPNP International Graduate Category offers a pathway to permanent residence in Newfoundland and Labrador for international graduates holding a valid post-graduation work permit (PGWP). This category aims to retain skilled talent by providing opportunities for graduates to establish themselves in the province’s workforce and community.

• Possession of an IRCC Post-Graduation work permit (PGWP) with at least four (4) months validity.
• Full-time job or job offer in NOC TEER level 0, 1, 2, 3, or TEER 4 (in-demand) occupation, with specified conditions.
• Meeting qualifications, age requirement (21 to 59 years), and intention to settle permanently.
• Employment should relate to the field of study. Exceptions for Memorial University or College of the North Atlantic graduates.
• Mandatory language proficiency tests for TEER 4 (in-demand) occupations. Accepted tests include IELTS, CELPIP, TEF Canada, and TCF Canada.
